Help With Custom Design
-
instead of buying the bundle for 99$ (premium upgrade), I was going to purchase the domain registration, mapping, (w privacy protection) for $26USD altogether, then I was going to add on the Custom Design upgrade for $30 to make changes with css and get my site looking just how I want it.. I noticed that with this separate upgrade it says you can’t do any “direct theme editing”…but isn’t that exactly what I’d be trying to do if I am using a theme and plan to edit the css on that theme? just want to make sure I don’t pay for this custom upgrade and then not be able to use it…..

Does Customize let me edit HTML?
No. Customize allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. If you require this functionality, please consider moving your blog to a web host that supports theme code modifications, suitable hosts can be found here. Read more about why here. You can choose to apply your custom fonts or custom stylesheet to any of the themes available on WordPress.com. You can use any WordPress.com theme as a blank canvas if you check the Don’t use the theme’s original CSS option in the Customize → CSS panel. But it doesn’t say “Customize” it says “Custom Design” as the separate upgrade which in the links you gave me all led to “Custom Design” which says that yes, I can edit a wordpress theme?

so I’m assuming with the Custom Design upgrade (rather than buying it in a bundle) I can do CSS editing, that the “direct theme editing” refers to editing the HTML markup or PHP code of a theme. If so, I can purchase the upgrade separate and save money instead of getting it in a bundle with other things I don’t need….

Yes you can edit CSS which affects only appearnce.
No your cannot access or edit the HTML and PHP underlying our themes.
Yes as you registered this username account prior to September 1st, 2014 you can purchase the custom design upgrade as a separate purchase withgout purchasing the premium bundle of upgrades. -
Please accept my apologies for the obvious typing and grammar errors above. I’m visually challenged and I’m having a bad vision day.
