help with custom menus

  I want to have different pages (menus) and i want everyone to be updated with specific posts
  I’ve tried to use the custom menus function, so I followed instructions mentioned in Custom Menus support page
  So I create a new menu and link some categories to it, then choose that menu as primary , but it doesn’t show up on my site
  instead , all pages disappear ( including home page )

  So , what am I supposed to do , please?

  P.S : Yes, I use a theme which supports custom menu

  if you click my link (http:cafedog.word.press.com) you will note I have both “categories” and “static pages” on my navigator bar. I am assuming you want to something similar.

  1. you can add BOTH categories and pages to the same menu.

  2. its the “categories” that would change with new posts, Static Pages stay the same.

  3. you will note that I have static page for a menu with “categories” in the drop down menu when you mouse over it.

  After you add Categories and Pages to you new menu by clicking the boxes:
  you can drag and drop them to put them in the order you want.
  you can also shift a selection like this

  Page1
Page 2
Page 3

  This will place Page 2 and Page 3 in a drop down below Page 1, in the interests of organizing.

  Darn it, I still haven’t figured out how to this…
  should look like

  Page 1
  ___ Page 2
  ___ Page 3

  This is on the Custum menu page.
  basically you shift an element to the right to be on the prior elements drop down menu.
