Help with customising my blog. Where to start.
-
I had a wordpress.com blog – journalistinablog.wordpress.com
I wanted to purchase a domain and make it into journalistinablog.com
I did this through wordpress.com and it appears like this now which I am happy about but I thought if you had your own domain you could edit html and css but it is still only allowing me to use wordpress.com themes etc.I want to be able to customise my blog completely with my own themes and css if possible.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The support information for the domain mapping upgrade is explicit about what the upgrade covers:
Notably:
* Mapped blogs are still subject to our Terms of Service.
* Purchasing the Domain Mapping upgrade does NOT give you the permission to use advertising, post any kind of prohibited code, or upload any themes or plugins.
* You will NOT have FTP access to your blog. If you want this, you should head on over WordPress.org -
Ok so if I guess I just wasted money for nothing then. Can I move my blog from wordpress.com onto wordpress.org without having to upload everything again
-
WordPress.ORG is NOT a hosting service. You would have to hire a webhost, download the software from wordpress.ORG and install it on the webhost, then export your blog data from here and then import it into the new blog.

And, what you can and cannot do with the CSS upgrade is outlined in this support document on the CSS upgrade: http://support.wordpress.com/custom-css/

And clarification about wordpress.ORG vs .COM is here:

Every upgrade in WP.com applies specifically and ONLY to exactly what it says. You’re not the first person to make the mistake of confusing a domain name with an entirely new set of conditions.
