Help with customizing and/or? custom theme.

    I appreciate that something similar may have been answered before, but there’s simply too many topics for me to go through!
    I’m looking for an extremely simple theme, perhaps a background, and then just some text (Header then body).

    Most of the design would come from the font (although I’m not too fussy) and positioning of the wording. With perhaps some simple sidebar links to child pages of the same design.

    Is there a free theme that I can use to build upon this i.e. customise?
    If not.. can anyone point in the direction on how I can build this myself / find something? I am on an extremely tight budget but definitely willing to put in some time. It seems that to build it myself I need to host my website elsewhere? This also confuses me.
    Any advice or directions to better advice would be helpful.

    Just to check, you’re asking this about your nnfashionconsulting.com site, right? Lots of people get confused between WordPress.com and WordPress.org so I thought it would make sense to check.

    Assuming you mean a WordPress.com blog then you should definitely check out the Theme Showcase – that link has some filters already applied to help you get started.

    If you want to make the typography a central feature then you should opt for the annual custom design upgrade, which will also let you add to the theme’s CSS should you want to.
