help with deleting latest post that has appeared under widgets
-
For some reason, the title of my latest post has gone under the widgets…. safariofthemind.wordpress.com. My latest post was Broiled Vegetables with Toasted Israeli couscous. When I published it today, WP did not notify me that it was my 45th post or whatever. Also, even though I can click on the post and it is fine, the post does not appear under the Home Page, which should be my latest post. I’m not sure how to remove the title under the widgets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

“Broiled Vegetables with Toasted Israeli couscous” was published as a static page, not as a post. That explains both why there is a link to it in the header menu, and why no notice of a new post was sent to your email address.

You’re welcome. You must have gone to Page > Add New instead of Post > Add New. It’s a common mistake. See the Post vs. Page support page. The easiest course would be to go to Post > Add New, and create a new draft post. Then copy and paste the content of the page into the post, create tags and categories and backdate (see below) if desired, and publish.
From the Schedule a Post support page:
To backdate a post, simply edit the date before you click Publish, as described above. In this case, the button will not change to Schedule.

Thanks so much again, and for the clear and concise directions. I was able to do a whole new post by copying and pasting. It now appears as the latest post under my blog site, but I am still not able to delete the title of the post that appeared under “widgets”. If you go to my site, there are the drop down menus of Home, About Me, Cooking, Gardening, Travel, then just underneath that for some reason, the title of my post “Broiled Vegetables with Toasted Israeli couscous” appeared underneath that. I’m not quite sure how to delete that. Everything else looks great, thanks so much for your help :)

That’s not a post. It’s a static page. Here are some of the options you have regarding that:
1. You may delete it, but allow me to caution you that if your images are attached to the page, deleting it (the page) will remove the images from the new post that you created by copying and pasting the page content. I’ve provided brief instructions for deleting the page at the bottom of this post.
2. You may change the status of the page to draft and leave in that status indefinitely. In that case, the images will remain in the new post.
3. You may leave the page published, but hide it from the menu bar by creating a custom menu with links to only those pages that you wish to have links to in the menu.
If you choose to delete the page, go to Pages > All Pages (https://safariofthemind.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page), hover over the page title, and select (click on) “Trash.” That will send it to trash, where it will remain for 30 days before being permanently deleted, unless you go to the Trash page and choose the option to delete it permanently and immediately.

Thank you…. I feel overwhelmed :) I’m not very tech-savvy! Actually, when creating that new post, I just copied and pasted the text, but manually added the pictures, so perhaps if I delete the page eventually, the pictures will still remain? By deleting the page eventually, will it get rid of the title of that post under widgets which seems to be a permanent feature now?

OK, I think I figured it all out without having to delete anything. I went to Appearance-menus and for some reason the title of my last post appeared under the drop-down posts… I simply typed “remove” under menus, and then saved it and voila!! Thanks though for all your help :)

You’re welcome. I hadn’t known you were using a custom menu. Glad you found the easiest solution.

If you uploaded them from files, or added them from the media library, then they should be safe. They will remain if you delete the page.
