Help with domain name

  Ok, I’m sort of confused. I have my own domain name (www.earleyfilms.com), and I’m having it hosted by http://www.JayWebDesigns.com. The domain name was bought from GoDaddy.com (if that matters).

  So, now how would I go about changing http://www.earleyfilms.wordpress.com, to http://www.earleyfilms.com?

  You purchase a domain.

  How do I take ‘wordpress’ out of my url?

  “I have my own domain name” as in, I have purchased it, as in, I pay to have that domain.

  So, I need to pay $10 to use wordpress as my website, even though I’ve already purchased a website?

  I’m confused at what you’re asking. If you already have the domain, it isn’t possible to change your wordpress to the same domain, since it’s already taken.

  Is there a way I can like…have my wordpress pages displayed on my site?

  Oh!
  Go to Dashboard -> Manage -> Export.
  I hope that is what you’re looking for.

  Wait, hold that. I have a friend (who’s pretty busy, so I don’t talk to her much), I thought her site was run from WordPress.com, I just checked, and it’s WordPress.org…sorry about that.

  Ok, um, I exported (saved) the .xml file, and I tried to open it up and I got this:

  “The XML page cannot be displayed
  Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

  OK, let’s start at the beginning. You asked:

  You would have to purchase domain MAPPING, not the domain. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/ lizii is incorrect. The whole purpose of domain MAPPING is to map the domain YOU OWN to your wordpress.COM blog.

  And then you asked:

  This has nothing to do with the export function. To display your blog on your site, you need to build in certain things on your external website to do it. If you search the forums, you’ll find some ideas but truthfully, that is beyond the scope of what this forum is design for, which is to help folks with blogs hosted at wordpress.COM

  (The purpose of the export function is to create a file which contains your blog information in a format that can then be used to import into another blog. The file is not designed to be used to allow you to display it on another website.)
