Help with domain name

    I’m trying to build my website, so I got a membership plan through wordpress, however I’m not able to manage some features because of the .com feature on wordpress. I’m trying to cancel the whole plan for a refund.

    Which upgrade did you cancel, and when did you cancel and request a refund?

    There are no pro-rated refunds so be clear on that. Refunds https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/ are time limited.

    WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund from date of purchase on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

    The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
    It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received after canceling an upgrade and requesting one.

    Do you intend to use the domain on another site?
    Or do you wish to completely give up ownership of it?

    It is important to know that cancelled domains are not released by the registrar immediately. Also note that here’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use a domain again as it may be sold to someone else. Therefore you should cancel a domain, if and only if, you are sure you do not wish to use it again.

    Seems I didn’t specify a lot of things. I got the personal blog option less than 24 hours ago for $35, and now I’m realizing I could’ve gotten it for approximately $13? I am using another host website therefore I don’t need all the benefits of the wordpress plan. I was also trying to access certain features such as deactivating the plugins and adding new themes, however I couldn’t do any of these.

    I must add, I’m still interested in using wordpress. Just not the .com but the .org feature. I would like to receive a refund and then start over.
    So far I’ve been given a partial refund.

    preciousyeboah17 – I want to make sure I am understanding your plans correctly so that I can provide accurate help. I see that you registered preciousyeboah.org with the personal plan through WordPress.com. You’ve since cancelled that upgrade and have been issued a partial refund.

    The remaining $26 has now been refunded. This is for the domain registration portion of the $35.88 purchase price. The refund should reach you in about ten days.

    The domain should be available to register again on another platform in about 5 days. There’s nothing I can do to speed that process along.

    I want to mention that you are able to keep your site on WordPress.com and use custom themes and plugins as part of the Business upgrade. A big benefit of this option is WordPress.com staff still support your site. When you use the installation of WordPress with a separate host you’ll get support through the community forums at wordpress.org/support/ or your host.
