help with editing css

  It’s been like over a month and I still cannot change my CSS…I downloaded this theme from the net and I dont know why whenever I paste the HTML on the CSS box it’s not showing, It’s just making my Koi theme some kind of over-write. Can anyone help me? :(

  We can not use themes downloaded from the internet on WordPress.COM.

  CSS can change the appearance of a theme, but can not change any of its functions.

  Also, CSS is theme specific. Each author decides how they are going to organize and structure things and what the are going to name the classes and IDs so you cannot use the CSS from one theme with another theme.

  really?! oh boy this is too perplex for me..as i can see it last resort for me would be getting a theme from wordpress itself..

  Here at wordpress.COM, we can modify the CSS on existing themes listed at appearance > themes. In only one case can we add CSS from outside, and that is with the Sandbox 1.6.1 theme, BUT the CSS has to have been designed for that particular theme (again, each designer determines what they are going to call things in the CSS and in the markup). Also, few of the CSS skins for Sandbox have been updated with all the stuff required here at wordpress.COM, so additional stuff has to be added to the CSS skins that were developed to use with Sandbox.

  darn..I love to write but I have to admit i suck at updating my theme. Thank you very much for that information :) both of you helped me a lot! I’ve already change my theme which I got from the theme engine of WordPress.com i think i’d be settling for that coz Sandbox sounds complicated for me LOL.

  What theme were you trying to use? If you can provide a link to a demo of it in action I might be able to help port it over to Sandbox if it isn’t too complicated.

  Share the link here and if it is easy to port over and I think other people might find it useful I will give it a shot. It will only be styled similarly, extra functionality that wordpress.com doesn’t already provide cannot be added with CSS. Don’t hold your breath though!
