Help with email sign-up and data capture

  Hi there
  I hope you can help me. I’m setting up a WordPress site on behalf of an author. (jennyoliverbooks.com).
  i have the Sela theme, Premium account. My main objective, alongside building up a community with blogging, is to build an email list. So my first question is, can I get access to email addresses that have signed up to follow the blog, via the Admin area?
  The second question is, can I export these email addresses and where / how do i do this?
  I would like to send the occasional email to the followers.

  I need to get the blog set up asap and would really appreciate it if you can get back to me with confirmation on the above.

  If there is a different (elegant, blog friendly) theme that does this on wordpress.com, I’d love to hear.

  Hi there,

  So my first question is, can I get access to email addresses that have signed up to follow the blog, via the Admin area?

  You can set up a Follow Blog widget and you will be able to access the emails by going to Dashboard > Site Stats > Totals, Followers & Shares > Followers > Blog > Email-Only Followers.

  You wouldn’t be able to get the emails of your WordPress.com Followers, only the Email-Only followers that come in via that widget.

  You wouldn’t be able to export these email addresses. You would have to manually add them to your list.

  But, you can always send out a notification by publishing a post. All email followers will receive email notifications for posts published respective of their settings.

  If there is a different (elegant, blog friendly) theme that does this on wordpress.com, I’d love to hear.

  This wouldn’t be based on theme, as it is a feature of all WordPress.com sites.
