help with error banners

Help! I am getting error banners on my site that say ‘Excess updates to option _et_builder_da_feature_cache blocked.’ and ‘Thumbnail regeneration is running in the background. Depending on the amount of images in your store this may take a while.’
I don’t know why and I have already contacted my theme and they ran a check and are not able to see anything even after checking my PHP Log.

The bot advised ‘The error banner ‘Excess updates to option _et_builder_da_feature_cache blocked’ usually occurs when there are too many updates being made to the Divi Builder cache. This can happen if you have a large number of posts or pages on your site. To resolve this, you can try increasing the value of the WP_CACHE constant in your wp-config.php file.’
So how do I go about this, I have no experience with the PHP file?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hi there – It looks like we may have provided some help around this specific issue to you over in this thread. Are you still needing help with this? If so, could you provide a screenshot of the errors you are seeing so we can get a better idea of what you are experiencing?

Yes, so this is another issue that doesn’t involve locating my PHP Log.

This issue is showing me the two banners as demonstrated ok n the above text. It’s frustrating to have to use the forum and not get direct help like I would have in the past. I’m not sure why the live chat or email options are not working. But something needs to be done so we can get back to work and not waste so much time with back and forth in this forum and different time zones.

  • Hi there,

    From your first post:

Where can this be seen on your site? Can I see this on your homepage?  Or is it a specific place I need to look at?

I did not see it on my own by visiting pages at random, so thanks for pointing it out!

I don’t know why and I have already contacted my theme and they ran a check and are not able to see anything even after checking my PHP Log.

I’m not sure who you contacted in this case, was it Divi? The reason I ask is because I spotted these errors in our server logs related to that theme, which I’ve noted below:

[02-Oct-2023 07:46:23 UTC] PHP Warning: Undefined array key "wc-admin-app" in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/feature/JQueryBody.php on line 249
[02-Oct-2023 07:46:23 UTC] PHP Warning: Undefined array key "wc-components" in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/feature/JQueryBody.php on line 249
[02-Oct-2023 07:46:23 UTC] PHP Warning: Undefined array key "wc-store-data" in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/feature/JQueryBody.php on line 249
[02-Oct-2023 07:46:23 UTC] PHP Warning: Undefined array key "wc-tracks" in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/feature/JQueryBody.php on line 249

If the root cause of the error message you are seeing is coming from Divi, that is not something that we’re able to investigate since that theme was not created by WordPress.com and the code is not under our control to fix. But it may help to share this with Divi support staff to see if they have any insights into what is going on.

To resolve this, you can try increasing the value of the WP_CACHE constant in your wp-config.php file.’

Sounds like you may be referring to a support response from Divi, since we would not be familiar with this solution. What I suspect is that their bot gave an answer that makes sense if you were using a non-managed hosting provider (aka budget web hosting) but WordPress.com is a fully managed host that specializes in the needs of WordPress.

It’s not possible to update the server configurations on a per-account basis, but our defaults are much more generous that is typical with budget-oriented hosts and likely is not the issue here. It’s likely their bot is not aware of this, but you can share info on our PHP configuration with Divi support staff here: https://wordpress.com/support/php-environment/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
