help with format & site vs menus vs categories

Hi there, Im pretty new at this wordpress use, and im having a heck of a time confirguring my site. Im trying to have the main page by itself, and then I have 3 more menus needed which I can post under with different categories. right when I think I have the site map the way I want it, I realize I don’t. do the confirgurations for the site map or menu and category placement change with each theme. please help me if you are willing. I would really appreciate it. thanks, carol

Your menu looks good, but you still need to set it as your site’s Primary Menu and save your changes:
