Help with getting photos to display properly
-
I have a ‘Photos’ page on my new site and some of the photos are overlapping and I can’t figure out how to get them all to be evenly displayed. In Edit Page mode, they actually look pretty good. Then I save and view the page and some are hidden behind others, etc. Suggestions?

See the Gallery and Sldeshows support page. It’s a bit tricky getting many images of different sizes to display in an orderly way on a page without displaying them as a gallery. I didn’t count them all, but it looks like you have over 150 images in your photos page. It’s amazing you have as little overlap as you do considering you haven’t used the gallery feature.

Thanks! So, you would recommend creating a gallery for each/most of the different music groups, then pasting each gallery into the photos page?

Those galleries and your website look great. Nice job. But what’s up with the “Beira Mar Brasil Photos” page?

It looks ok on my end. Are you seeing something different? There’s a “Featured Image”, then about 11 photos with no overlaps that I can see?
-
It looks okay. However, it appears to be the only one of the photos pages that doesn’t display the images in a gallery. I thought perhaps you forgot to use the gallery on that one.

On my relatively small 9 X 12 screen “Beira Mar Brasil Photos” displays the eleven images with nine in a column on the left, and two on the right. If I click zoom (Firefox) in once it displays all eleven in a single column aligned left. If I zoom out twice it displays all of them in pairs except the last one.

On my 1280 x 1024 screen, that page displays
one large image at the top,
3 rows x 2 columns of unequal size landscape photos,
1 row x 2 columns one portrait and one landscape photo,
1 row x 2 columns with landscape photos,
1 row with a square image. The reason why musicdoc1 is seeing those images differently is because the images are a fixed size and inserted one after the other as single images. Using the Gallery feature, as musicdoc1 said, will definitely even out the display of those images because the sizing and display of the Gallery is dynamic. It will fill the width of your theme’s content container regardless of screen size.
Using the Gallery, you can still link to the direct media file when someone clicks on the image, but I think you’ll find the photo carousel a nicer option for viewing.

Alrighty, I think I got it to look like the rest of the galleries. Better? Thank you both! http://davidmartin.org/photos/beira-mar-brasil-photos/
