help with HTML formatting problem in WP

  • Unknown's avatar

    hey,

    I have this code fragment [below] that was supplied to me. When I test it using an html tester
    it looks fine. the box and the txt and graphics all line up.

    However, when I drop this code (widget) into my wp page it places the text in the wrong place.

    I worked originally , but something I have done is causing the widget to appear incorrectly.

    help : / please

    Andrew

    Under HEADER there’s this:
    padding-bottom: 32px;
    Turn the 32 to 10.

    Under BUTTONS there are these three:
    padding-top: 14px;
    padding-top: 20px;
    padding-top: 24px;
    Turn the 14 to 6, and the 24 to 20.

    well,

    many ! thanks for your help. It’s always the same … someone has to give a crap to help someone. I really Appreciate this :0 )

    I have played around with those padding numbers and got it to look pretty good. The ones you gave me for some reason didn’t work but it did tell me how to do it ( again if it works for you should it not work for me ?)

    Why is this happening in WP anyways ? whenever I try the code in Dreamweaver or on an web site for testing html code… it works perfectly !?

    hmph.

    anyways going to play around with this and get back to you once more as to how it went in the end.

    You’re welcome!

    I’m surprised you say that my suggestions didn’t work for you, because I tested them on your blog.

    This is happening in WP because some other environments are more ‘neutral’ while each WP theme has its own styling, and those who design code like the one you want to use don’t always take everything into account, or aren’t proficient enough. For example, notice that “line-height” (=distance between lines of text) is missing from your code although it’s crucial.
    Note my “each”and “its own”: this means that whatever the ‘correct’ numbers are, if you switch to a different theme you might need different numbers.

    thanks duder.

    I did a degree in CS years ago … and have lots of coding under me but not fer years and also never a lick of HTML.

    I tried messing with the padding but got messes up. I wanted to hear from someone who knew alot more than i.

    So,

    u r right … obviously … your numbers work on my blog … but the page i am working on in this case is my sisters. she is a new writer and I do this to help her as she has no dough right now. so i just made them work for her Hero theme.

    Again, so appreciate the help and also the followup. u explained why as well … just needed to know i wasn’t entirely madd.

    I’ll b back i am sure , laughing
