Help with Illustratr Theme

I’m trying to figure out how to get the portfolio on the front page. Right now it’s only visible by going directly to the page – http://julieaevans.wordpress.com/portfolio

Is there a way to add a home button? The only way back home is to click on the header image which takes you back to the empty home page.

The theme shows I can add menus. Can’t find them when I try and create one.

    thanks in advance
    W.

    Hi,

It looks like you’ve figured out how to
    1. Assign a static page as your front page, and assign the Portfolio Page Template to that page.
    2. Create and activate a custom menu, including in it a “Home” button.
Have you resolved each of the issues in the topic, or do you still have questions?

  • If you still want to add a link to the Portfolio archive page to your menu, you’ll need to first create a custom menu and then add a “link” with the portfolio URL to your new menu.

Here’s a guide to creating a custom menu:

    Menus

Since you’ve set your portfolio as your homepage perhaps you no longer need to do this, but I provided the steps just in case.

    @ kathryn,

I think julieaevans wanted to display the portfolio on the front page, rather than a link to it, and seems to have figured out how to do so by setting the front page as a static page, with the Portfolio Page Template assigned to it.

The other issue in the OP was adding a “Home” link to the menu, which has also been accomplished.
