help with layout

    Hello.

Im using imbalance 2 and would really like the columns to line up perfectly, including at the top and bottom across the four columns. It seems to randomly select the amount of words shown in the summary of the post. Is there someway to set the amount of words in the summary of the post or is there a way to set the size of the lines?

Any help would be appreciated. I am planning on changing all the thumbnail images to be the same dimensions but I don’t know how to remedy the word count in the summary?

    Thank you

You may want to refer to:
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/imbalance2/
    http://imbalance2demo.wordpress.com/

Column one is the blog title and tagline; you edit them in Settings > General.
Columns two and three are for two custom menus; you create and load them in Appearance > Menus – instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Column four is for widgets; you add them in Appearance > Widgets.

Imbalance 2 displays the beginning of each post on the main page. As in all themes that display post beginnings, all HTML tags are stripped out; so no links, no formatted text, and no regularly inserted images. To display images on the front page, you need to set a featured image to each post, or copy and paste content (including image code) from the HTML editor to the Excerpt module. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/images-not-displayed-in-new-theme?replies=19#post-763851

Thank you. As you can see from my blog I do understand all that, I have featured images etc. I am just wondering if there is a way to set the same limit for the word count that appears as the summary below the featured image. The amount of words that appears as the summary apears to completely random and that creates this staggered look with the thumbnails which I don’t like. I would prefer uniform size blocks of image and text. Is there someway to set the word limit for the summary or each post that appears in the thumbnail, or to remove the summary of text all together?

I’m sorry but there is no automatic setting you can use. The only way to have excerpts of the same length appear each time is to use the excerpt box and enter the exact text you want into it prior to publishing each post.

    @joniels

Chateau can use excerpts if you use the excerpt module. (that function is not active in all themes) Here is how:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/

A custom excerpt means you can make a summary with as many or as few words as you like.

The featured image won’t appear automatically in your custom excerpt, but you can add a thumbnail of your choice.

You can customize what appears on your front page so all the articles there have the same amount of text, and the same sized pictures. But as timethief said, it is not automatic. But look at the link: it is not difficult once you give it a go.

  • Hi @joniels,

As timethief and 1tess have suggested, the best way to accomplish this is by typing manual excerpts for each post in the Excerpts module.

Please let us know how this works out for you.
