Help with link to internal site
-
I’m trying to link a title in a current post with an earlier post on my blog. I write the text. I highlight it. I click the chain link thingie. When the window pops up I enter wordpress.com in the Link URL blank and the title of the post I am trying to link to in the title blank. I click Insert. Lastly, I click the broken chain.
After all that, it doesn’t work. When I publish the current post, the words that people would need to click on to get to the earlier post are not even highlighted.
Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks. -
If you click the broken link, you “break the link”. It removes the link. Click on the linked links, insert the URL, hit insert, and you are done.

Gosh, I tried what you suggested and it did not seem to work. I previewed what I had done and the titles I wanted to link with a previous post were not highlighted and it really did not do anything when I moved my mouse over them. Do you think it could be because it was a preview and not the actual published post?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks! -
What you want to do, is highlight the text within the post or page that you want to become the link. Then click on the “link” button, enter the complete URL of the post, that you want to link to. To get the complete URL (permalink) for the post, either right click on the title of the post and select “copy location” or “copy link” Then paste that into the “Link” field in the “links” popup that comes up.
Example permalink to one of your posts: http://teeveebee.wordpress.com/2008/01/25/the-omniscient-librarian-i-wish/

Thanks so much! I was able to get my link all set up. These forums are ALOT of help.
I appreciate you taking your time to help me, a not so savvy blogger. By the way, the link did show up in preview, just for your information.

You’re very welcome and thanks for letting me know it shows up in preview. Happy blogging.
