Help with migrating from localhost to wordpress server
-
I created a WordPress page on localhost with MAMP, integrated it with Amazon AWS S3, and built up a theme from a blank slate, but I wanted to migrate that to a WordPress domain (since I didn’t want to purchase my own domain). However, when I created a WordPress url [myname].wordpress.com, when I went back to the dashboard I had lost all of my changes, AND I wasn’t able to access a lot of the previous functionality to redo my changes. For example, the Add User button was missing and it had been replaced with Invite User. I can still see my old site on localhost, but I can’t edit it with WordPress. How do I get my old site back?? I’m a total WordPress noob, so please bear with me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot install third party themes or themes that you designed or create child themes on the free WordPress.com blog. You can only use the themes that are available under Appearance>Themes.
If you want to use the theme that you made, you would need to use the self hosted version; WordPress.org which is free software that you download and install on your web host’s server.
For differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org see:

Okay, I would prefer to use WordPress.org because of the additional theme and plugin functionality. How do I return to the WordPress.org dashboard now? Whenever I try to edit the site on my localhost, it takes me to a wordpress login page and to the WordPress.com dashboard.

You have to purchase hosting and then install WordPress on your host’s server. For detailed explanation of that process you should visit the WordPress.org support forums: http://wordpress.org/support/ and read through the Codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
