Help with Mobile Search result redirection
-
I am not sure if the subject explains the issue and need well, but ever since transferring from Google to WordPress.com (Free Plan) I have noticed that while google search results haven’t changed and when using the desktop computer or desktop mode clicking on the search result directs me just fine to the new wordpress site. It is when I click on that same link with my mobile phone that it tries to send the user to a mobile version of the site which isn’t there and the visitor lands on an Oops 404 page.
I have read that if I could afford a bit more money I would have the ability to add a 404 redirect plugin and be done with it, but I don’t have that option and at least one of my websites is an advocacy site and with everyone on smartphones with browsers I don’t need to be loosing visitors.
How do I fix this issue?
I tried dressing up that 404 page a bit but all it did was add more clutter to the homepage which was not the solution or visually appealing.
If you google Pauline Storment and click on the link which is as follows you will arrive at the 404 page:
https//whomurderedpauline.wordpress.com/?m=1
And the ?m=1 really doesn’t need to be there and I am not sure if this is a WordPress issue or a Google issue.
