Help with moving domain name from wordpress to squarespace

I have updated the CNAME to www and pointed it at ext.squarespace.com and set the A record to @ and the IP.
Squarespace tools claim that it isn’t working.
Not sure the records haven’t updated yet or if there is something I am missing. Their instructions reference forwarding but it looks like the A record is used in place of forwarding for a wordpress registered domain?
Any tips on this appreciated.

Please disregard. I think it was easier in this case to simply transfer the domain name. Thanks

Keep in mind DNS changes such as the ones you described take time to propagate. How long it takes to update depends on your internet provider. Different providers update DNS at different rates, and that’s why companies usually say that it can take up to 48 or 72 hours for a change to go through. If you made the change and then didn’t wait long enough, that could explain the trouble you described.
Transferring registrars takes several steps and takes longer than updating DNS. You have to make sure to follow all of the steps given. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/#preparing-your-domain-for-transfer for the list of steps. Take your time and make sure you don’t miss anything along the way.
