Help with my blog

  I’m new to blogging. A virgin, to be frank. I’ve spent days trying to figure out how to create my blog, and I still can’t figure it out. I don’t understand how to use the tags, or how to change becki101 to just becki. How do I put things in my blog that’s relevant to its main topic, like pictures? What about the category tag? How do I use that? I’m totally dumbfounded. I did write something in my blog, just to see what happens, but I don’t want to continue writing on it, or concentrate on building traffic, until it’s set up right. If anybody can help me, I’d greatly appreciate it.
