Help with my site for an inexperienced blogger/web user
-
I purchased my domain pastelcake.com or pastel-cake (cannot remember) on godaddy.com and my website reads .wordpress.com. How can I change this? I am so very sorry but I know nothing about webhosting. Is what I purchased a blog or a website? And this is not a customizable webpage where I can add my own clip art, fonts, widgets, etc.? I am completely lost and do not understand. I just know that i’d like a website so I can showcase my cakes. Please help. Also, do you not support email?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to find out your actual domain name. Domains are extremely specific and not to be fiddled with lightly; it’s entirely possible to connect your blog to a domain name that doesn’t exist, effectively sending your blog offline. So, get the exact domain name down to the http from Godaddy.
Once you have that, you go to the dashboard Upgrades page and buy Domain Mapping. Here are the instructions for setting that up. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Before you start posting, go through this. It will make things simpler: http://learn.wordpress.com and don’t worry about the difference between a blog and a website: it’s basically semantics.
