Help with old account
-
My organization set up a WordPress site years ago, and I have the original login email address and password, but it’s all been changed since then, as our association (and the handling of this site) has experienced turnover–and unfortunately, abysmal record-keeping. I thought the DNS and hosting for it were held by our other web hosting service but found out they only registered the domain, and WordPress handles DNS and hosting. What we want to do is decommission the site completely, as the division of our business represented on this site is no longer in existence. Unfortunately, the Gmail address associated with the account has been deactivated at this point as well, and I can no longer access or recover that email address. I’m in a real pickle.
I had to set up a new WordPress account just to submit a forum question relating to the other account. Please let me know where I can turn for help. Thanks. -
What is the site address?
If it uses WordPress.com DNS then it has a paid plan attached and can be recovered using account recovery: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form
(Please don’t share any transaction information in this public forum.)

Unfortunately, it was set up in 2017 by an employee who is long gone, and since then the one or two people who posted to the site (and changed the login credentials from the original set I was able to track down) have also left the organization…I do not have access to any of the required proofs of ownership.
If there’s a fee involved with this site, we definitely want it taken down. It’s been inactive since January.

You’ll need to tell us the site address to know how to help. If it has a custom domain and is hosted by WordPress.com, there is a fee and account recovery is how to regain access. If it’s not on WordPress.com hosting, this site won’t be able to assist but can point you to a different support.

Those are different sites, but probably in the same account. The site paarmc.com does have a payment connected with it. See this page on how to get a transaction ID, and check the “On Your Credit Card Statement” section: https://wordpress.com/support/billing-history/#retrieving-a-transaction-id
The list of how payments appear will be helpful to search for WPCHRG.COM or WordPress in any organizational billing. Locate this to complete account recovery. (Don’t share that here.) If the organization wasn’t paying for it, the previous person handling it is who to contact to login and take the site down. The person paying is the owner.
While it won’t stop that site from existing or the billing from recurring, you can also login to your domain registrar and change that away from WordPress.com.

Thanks. I’ll have accounting look for the initial fee in 2017 and try to find that 10-digit number. I highly doubt the payment was sent through Paypal.

@paar309mls I’ve replied to the email ticket you submitted, so I’m closing this thread as a duplicate.
