Help with plugins and self-hosting
-
I would like to get some plugins for my site insidenoxgroup.wordpress.com but haven’t been able to – so I am wanting to know how to upgrade so that I will be able to use plugins – do I do this by purchasing a new theme or by going premium or by self hosting? Please advise how to go about this as this free template theme is pretty uncustomisable and I need a few plugins to get it to display what I want it to…. Please let me know asap. Thanks! :) Kate

Hi,
If you just want to change the look of your site, you might want to look at the Custom Design upgrade and see if that is what you need.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/There are no additional plugins available for sites hosted at WordPress.com. These are the only plugins available and they are already built-in and you can’t add your own.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/If you want to get your own plugins, you would have to do the self-hosting at WordPress.org where you download the software and install it on your own web host.
For more info about the differences between .com and .org, see here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Good luck!

Could you let me know if it is possible to transfer this blog over to a self-hosted one and how to do that? Could we use BlueHost?
-
Yes, you could definitely use BlueHost.
You need to export your blog
http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/then import into your other blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/You can also do the Guided Transfer upgrade
http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/Hope that helps!
