Help with Pointing my Domains Where I Need Them to Go
-
I have a number of domains pointing at what is currently my main blog. I’d like to know how to do a few things, that I haven’t been able to figure out.
I want to take my puzzledsphinx.com and no longer point it at cowboysdontswim but set it up as a separate blog.
I’d like to know how to point my other domain names at pages within that separate blog. For example, I’d like to point whatistheafter.com to a What is the After page that I’d create in cowboysdontswim.com, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to point domain at pages, instead of at the main (homepage) page.
You guys have been a super big help to me all along, and I’m looking forward to your guidance once again.
Thank you.
Craig

Hey there Craig,
I’ve broken down your issues below:
I want to take my puzzledsphinx.com and no longer point it at cowboysdontswim but set it up as a separate blog.
Do you have a WordPress.com blog you’ve already setup, so we can transfer your domain, puzzledsphinx.com, to that site? Let me know and I can move the domain for you. If you haven’t yet created the new blog, you can register a new site here: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/
I’d like to know how to point my other domain names at pages within that separate blog. For example, I’d like to point whatistheafter.com to a What is the After page that I’d create in cowboysdontswim.com, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to point domain at pages, instead of at the main (homepage) page.
You can only point your domain to a whole site at WordPress.com. If you want each domain to point to a separate page, your best bet would be creating new sites that would hold the content of each page. Then, you could point your domains to specific sites.
You guys have been a super big help to me all along, and I’m looking forward to your guidance once again.
I’m glad you’ve had a great experience in the past. Looking forward to getting you up and running with your domain needs!
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Thanks so much for the super-fast reply! Bummer about not being able to point domains at pages, but it makes sense. As such, what I’d like to do is as follows, and if you can help that’s great! (If not, I’ll muck around with it.)
1) point puzzledsphinx.com at the blog I just created: puzzledsphix.com
2) point totemcomic.com at the totemcomic.wordpress.com blog
3) change the pointerss for the following blogs FROM cowboysdontswim.com TO puzzledsphinx.com:daemonborn.com
editrixmovie.com
thegetfilm.com
wizardofod.com
offlinenovel.com
whatistheafter.com
stopthesingularity.com
thecoinsoftherealm.comIf you can help with this, that would be great. Thank you so much!

All right, I’ve taken care of the following:

The following domains are all pointing to puzzlesphinx.wordpress.com:
daemonborn.com
editrixmovie.com
thegetfilm.com
wizardofod.com
offlinenovel.com
whatistheafter.com
stopthesingularity.com
thecoinsoftherealm.comYou can view the status of all your upgrades in each site’s Dashboard at Store → My Upgrades.

Help! It looks like something went wrong! Everything that was supposed to point at puzzledsphinx.com is pointing at coinsoftherealm.com and I don’t know what happened to the hidden blog that resided at the wordpress site for coinsoftherealm.com. Can you point the sites at puzzledsphix.com, and point the coinsoftherealm wordpress site at the thecoinsoftherealm.com? Please let me know if you need any more information.

Hello again.
Sorry about that, I moved the mapping for all the domains you requested, but didn’t tell you how to make puzzledsphinx.com your primary domain. I did that for you, but in the future, if you need to make an adjustment, you can do so at Store → My Domains, or by clicking on the link below:
https://puzzlesphinx.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Can you point the sites at puzzledsphix.com, and point the coinsoftherealm wordpress site at the thecoinsoftherealm.com?
You had originally requested that thecoinsoftherealm.com be pointed to puzzledsphix.com. Unless I misunderstood?

HI, I think it’s totally my fault, because I wasn’t clear at all, and I made one mistake. Totally my fault, and think you for your patience with me. Here is the way I would like it to be set up:
the cowboysdontswim wordpress hoted at cowboysdontswim.com active at the $99 per year level (no action required)Puzzled Sphinx wordpress (complete with typo (!) (can you fix that, it should be Puzzled Sphinx not Puzzles Sphinx…? My mistake again) hosted at puzzledsphinx.com and active at $99 per year level.
thecoinsoftherealm wordpress hosted at thecoinsoftherealm.com and active at the $99 per year level (this may require reactivation?) (no redirect, it’s its own thing) (premium expiring 1/15, but I would like to pay for the renewal with my card on file and set up automatic renewals)
I also own mfawriterguy.com which has a wordpress blog on it. This is currently set for renewal of the hosting package and I don’t plan to renew it. I would like to keep the domain (and have it point at puzzledsphinx.com)
The following domains all redirecting to puzzledsphinx.com and not hosting wordpress blogs (so this is domain name maintenance annually only)
daemonborn.com
editrixmovie.com
thegetfilm.com
wizardofod.com
offlinenovel.com
whatistheafter.com
stopthesingularity.com
mfawriterguy.comPlease let me know if anything’s not clear. I appreciate your help so much. Thank you.
Best,
Craig

Hey Craig,
All right, let’s see if we can get your domain situation settled! I’ve broken down all your requests below:
Here is the way I would like it to be set up: the cowboysdontswim wordpress hoted at cowboysdontswim.com active at the $99 per year level (no action required)
Perfecto!
Puzzled Sphinx wordpress (complete with typo (!) (can you fix that, it should be Puzzled Sphinx not Puzzles Sphinx…? My mistake again) hosted at puzzledsphinx.com and active at $99 per year level.
You can adjust the name of your WordPress.com site by following these instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/I am not seeing that you purchased the Premium upgrade for puzzlesphinx.wordpress.com. Did you need to make that purchase, or were you hoping to move it from another site? Please let me know.
Here are your upgrades for that site:
https://puzzlesphinx.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgradesthecoinsoftherealm wordpress hosted at thecoinsoftherealm.com and active at the $99 per year level (this may require reactivation?) (no redirect, it’s its own thing) (premium expiring 1/15, but I would like to pay for the renewal with my card on file and set up automatic renewals)
Your site, coinsoftherealm.wordpress.com does indeed have the Premium upgrade, no activation necessary. If you’d like to setup auto-renewal, you can do so here:
https://coinsoftherealm.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades
I also own mfawriterguy.com which has a wordpress blog on it. This is currently set for renewal of the hosting package and I don’t plan to renew it. I would like to keep the domain (and have it point at puzzledsphinx.com)
Great. I see that here:
https://mfawriterguy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgradesI have already moved that domain to the puzzlesphinx.wordpress.com, so it redirects to puzzledsphinx.com. That domain will not expired when your Premium upgrade does for that site.
The following domains all redirecting to puzzledsphinx.com and not hosting wordpress blogs (so this is domain name maintenance annually only)
daemonborn.com editrixmovie.com thegetfilm.com wizardofod.com offlinenovel.com whatistheafter.com stopthesingularity.com mfawriterguy.comThese seem to be working correctly. Can you confirm?
All right. I *think* I might have everything straightened out. Look through all those domains and make sure they’re behaving as you want them to be.
If there’s anything that isn’t behaving as you’d like, let me know. Thank you!

Hi. Right now there is one remaining problem. If you enter puzzledsphinx.com into a browser, it redirects to thecoinsoftherealm.com. I can’t find a way to fix this. Puzzledsphinx.com should host a blog and point to itself. It will be an active page $99 premium.
I want to have premium on four sites: cowboysdontswim.com, thecoinsoftherealm.com, puzzledsphinx.com, and totemcomic.com. Each of these sites should be active (and ideally, currenlty hidden).
The problem right now is I want to set up the blog on puzzledsphinx.com but I can’t access it as my site redirects (incorrectly) to thecoinsoftherealm.com
_____Ultimately, I’m wondering whether four premium sites entitles me to four bonus domains, and whether the list of domains I have pointed (correctly) at puzzledsphinx.com includes those four, and if it does not, whether it could.
I’d like to be paying on an annual basis for:
cowboysdontswim.com
(mfawriterguy.com redirects here, no premium for mfawriterguy.com)totemcomic.com
thecoinsoftherealm.com
puzzledsphinx.com
(the following sites all point to puzzledsphix.com:daemonborn.com. editrixmovie.com, thegetfilm.com, wizardofod.com, offlinenovel.com whatistheafter.com stopthesingularity.com)
Thank you for your invaluable help.

Hello there,
I think you *may* be experiencing a caching issue from all the changes. When I visit http://puzzledsphinx.com/, I am connected to your WordPress.com site, puzzlesphinx.wordpress.com. That is how your domain and site are currently mapped.
Please clear your browser’s cache and cookies using the instructions below and take another look at your domain:
The problem right now is I want to set up the blog on puzzledsphinx.com but I can’t access it as my site redirects (incorrectly) to thecoinsoftherealm.com
You can access the content of your site here:

You get to register one domain name per Premium upgrade. If you registered your domain name before upgrading to Premium, it was bundled into your Premium upgrade, and counts as your ‘free’ domain.
To make sure that you have all the Premium upgrades and domains you want, you will go to the Store → My Upgrades page from your Dashboards of each WordPress.com site.
You can add any Premium upgrades, or register any additional domains, from your Store. Make certain that you are logged into the correct site before adding a domain. Otherwise, you may find your domain or other upgrade connected to the wrong site.
If you’d like to transfer any existing upgrades to a different site, you can do so by following these instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgradesThanks so much!
