Help with Post icons/visual

Bear with me – I’m a newbie – so I hope this isn’t a dumb question. I’ve read through FAQs and the forum but those solutions haven’t helped. When I draft a new Post my editing toolbar is very basic and has buttons that I don’t understand (b, i, link, b-quote, ins, img, ul, ol, li, code, more, lookup, close tags – that’s it!). I’d like to have the visual bar that allows for bullets, indents, and just more editability in general! On my user profile I haven’t checked the box that disables visual editing so I should have the “nice” toolbar but I don’t. How do I get it? Thanks in advance!

Go to users > your profile and make sure that “Disable the visual editor when writing” at the top is NOT selected. Make sure and click the “update profile” button.

Thanks thesacredpath! I did that earlier, based on the FAQs section and the box is definitely NOT checked and I did update profile, but still…the problem persists! ARGH!

Your description of what you see is what we see in the HTML tab. Make sure to click on the tab that says Visual and you should get a new set of icons, as explained below:
