Help with posting new entry for blog

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I have two pages on my website. Page one has an introduction of me. The second page has my blog entry. For whatever reason I DO NOT KNOW but I can’t seem to add my recent blog entry to the blog page, it automatically goes to my landing page/about page. So I need my most recent blog entry move from from the landing page to the blog page.
Please help, I have almost no hair left and would appreciate the support. HOW DO I MOVE IT.
Thanks in advance for helping me.
    Samantha

It looks like your ‘About’ page is not a page but a blog entry. Instead of moving your blog post try copying your ‘About’ information into a new PAGE. See if that does it and then you can delete the old one.

Now for getting your blog page and your new post together: Is your BLOG menu link a true PAGE item or a POST CATAGORY link? You’re going to want to make it a POST and then it should line up with your new post.

Then make sure that your link at the top of the page that says ‘Blog’ goes directly to your blog posts: Go to your DASHBOARD then APPEARANCE and then MENU. Check your URLs in the MENU STRUCTURE page and making sure the link is theafricaadventure.wordpress.com.

Let me know if that was at all helpful to you.

    Hi awriterinspired,
Thank you for your help. Yet, I am STILL struggling! awww
I have managed to delete the post as suggested. Then I followed your instructions and tried to added my second post entry to my blog but again instead of going to http://www.the africaadventure.wordpress.com/blog/, it goes to my About page or my landing page. Why?
I managed to get to the structure page (as outlined in your instructions) and change the URL to http://www.theafricaadventure.wordpress.com/blog/ instead of the URL from before.
Can you please advise what I do, thanks

Are you clear on the differences between posts and pages?
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest post, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

    A static page (select below)

    Posts page:

On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/

The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.
