Help with Programming

  I am new to WordPress. I just installed version 2.3.3 (my hosting company still does not support the latest version) and liked it a lot. I was wondering if somebody could help me with the following two questions:

  1. I would like to pro grammatically read my latest post and put it on my home page. Is this possible? If so, please let me know how exactly. I am using 2.3.3 version.

  2. Where can I find information on customizing version 2.3.3?
