    3. On the post page, there is a facebook box showing all facebook friends pics, how do I remove this? yes I want to be connected to facebook but no I do not want friends pics showing.

    4. Is there a way to send post I’ve posted on facebook to the post page on blog (website)

    1. To hide the comment box on new posts and pages:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/
Be sure that the option, “Allow people to post comments on new articles” is not checked. (Actually, make sure none of the options is checked.) Remember to save changes.

To remove comment box from already published pages and posts:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
Be sure neither option for pingbacks and comments is checked.
Remember to update your post or page.

If you cannot see the discussion module on the edit post (or edit page) then click “screen options” on the top right of your screen to make it appear .

    2. The search box is built into your theme. It could be hidden with a CSS upgrade.

Custom Design is a paid upgrade that costs $30.00 per blog, per year.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

There are themes which do not include a built in search box, and if you’re not “in love with accademica” you could switch to another theme for free.

    3. The facebook box is a widget. You can remove that widget from your sidebar. Or you can configure it not to show faces.
    dashboard—>appearance—>widgets—>facebook like box—>uncheck “show faces”—>update.

    4. No, you cannot automatically send posts you’ve made on Facebook to your WordPress.com site.

Of note, a blog is a website!
It is a special kind of website because it has a “page” which will show articles in reverse chronological order with dates, categories, and tags.

A tradition page based site can be done using the WordPress.com platform. You do not need to include a “blog” page!
My opinion: the wp.com blog is a great way to be indexed by search engines and be found easily. If you look around the web, you are likely to see that lots of companies have a blog though they may call it something like “latest news about us.”

    For question #1
under settings-discussion, I don’t have the option to uncheck allow comments or uncheck allow trackbacks and pingbacks. On the support page it’s showing you a pic of a box telling you to uncheck these to but I don’t have that option. The only pages leave a mess is on is (about, request a cap, and store pages). Any additional assistant would be most helpful.

For #2, thanks for clearing that up, makes since now
For #3, thanks for that info, I was able to fix this with your help!
For #4, thanks for clearing that up as well

This link is for future posts and pages. It won’t affect your already published pages:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/
Here is the picture you should see:
    http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/def-article-settings.png?w=688
Just to be sure that you are on the right page:
    http://YOUR UNDERLYING NAME.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php
Your domain is mapped so I don’t know what the underlying URL is for your site. It doesn’t appear to be http://fitterswife.dotnet.wordpress.com/
or http://fitterswife.wordpress.com/ (the first is linked to your username, the second is a guess I tried)

The only pages leave a mess is on is (about, request a cap, and store pages). Any additional assistant would be most helpful.

To change the discussion setting on those already published pages use the other link I gave you.
dashboard—>pages—>all pages—>select the page you want to edit—>scroll down to the “discussion module”—>remove checks from these: http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/discussion-metabox.png?w=688 —>update page

    You sent this*****

Just to be sure that you are on the right page:
    http://YOUR UNDERLYING NAME.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php
Your domain is mapped so I don’t know what the underlying URL is for your site. It doesn’t appear to be http://fitterswife.dotnet.wordpress.com/
or http://fitterswife.wordpress.com/ (the first is linked to your username, the second is a guess I tried)

****This has been another underlying issue as well. I signed up for domain name fitterswife.net under a fitterswife, after submitting the domain name switched to fitterswife.org. I did not complete the process and did not pay for fitterswife.org domain. Instead I used a different email using rkral and paid for fitterswife.net domain. I then sent support requesting help and someone replied back and stated they would change username email to fitterswife using domain fitterswife.net and keep the website the same so I didn’t lose what I had already created on the site. The url is fitterswife.net, matching fitterswife username and email. I have no idea who to contact for support on this to make sure it’s all been changed. The url works as I can type in fitterswife.net and go to the sight. But according to your reply it sounds like your saying this still isn’t fixed. I do not understand the difference between using fitterswifedotnet.wordpress.com and fitterswife.wordpress.com I have both options to use under account setting but do not know which is the correct one. Any insight on this would be most helpful

I’ve added a modlook tag to this thread so staff can take a look. As a volunteer I cannot see what is going on. If you subscribe then you’ll be notified of a response.

What is the link you use to log in to your site? If you are able to log in, then you should still be able to do this:

To remove comment box from already published pages and posts:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
Be sure neither option for pingbacks and comments is checked.
Remember to update your post or page.

If you cannot see the discussion module on the edit post (or edit page) then click “screen options” on the top right of your screen to make it appear .

    Hi there,

I took a look at your site, and the pages you mentioned (Store, About, Request a cap) all have the comments disabled, so there’s no Leave a Reply section anymore. It looks like you’re all set there! :) Let me know if you have any other questions about that.

I then sent support requesting help and someone replied back and stated they would change username email to fitterswife using domain fitterswife.net and keep the website the same so I didn’t lose what I had already created on the site.

I want to assure you that everything is working properly on your site right now. Visitors to your site will see your custom domain fitterswife.net. When you go to your site’s dashboard, you’ll see the WordPress.com address fitterswifedotnet.wordpress.com. However, that’s just an internal address that was created when you set up your site. The only address anyone else will see is your fitterswife.net domain.
