Help with Slideshows

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to post a slideshow on my wordpress blog, but everytime I try to ‘preview’ the slideshow and see if it works, the last image I uploaded is on the blog as an image, and I don’t want an image there, I only want the slideshow.

How can I get no images to show, only the slideshow?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Does this help? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-delete-pictures-from-gallery?replies=7#post-567463

If not then click the tags in the sidebar and search threads to see if you can locate an answer.

No. My specific problem is when I want to just create a slideshow of images, I upload the images and choose the option to insert slideshow. However, when I click to preview my blog, the images I chose specifically to go in the slideshow show up on the blog in addition to being in the slideshow.

I don’t want the image itself posted on the blog, I just want it in the slideshow.

Did you read what justjennifer said further down in that thread?

Yes. That’s not my problem. Whenever I upload an image to my blog, it appears on the blog. I only want the uploaded image I upload to be in my slideshow. The problem I’m having is that the image is on my blog as well as being in my slideshow. I only want it to appear in my slideshow.

I do understand you and have from the outset. I don’t have much experience with slideshows but just justjennifer does.

A slideshow will display a set of images attached to a particular post or page. If you upload images using the Add an Image button while editing/creating the post or page, they will be attached automatically. If you upload images directly to the media library from Media -> Add New, you will need to attach them to a post or page before they will appear in a slideshow. …

Can I exclude certain images from a slideshow?
No. Currently the slideshow will only display all photos attached to a post. If you’d like to exclude certain photos you may be interested in using the gallery feature instead. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

P.S. The blog linked to your username is a free hosted WordPress.com blog that’s empty. Will you please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question?

I have only been trying this in a draft, that is why you cannot see anything.

I’ve read this, and it’s not what I’m trying to do. I want the image only visible in the slideshow, instead, when uploaded it appears on the blog post as an image…out of place, etc. I don’t want that.

I don’t know how to achieve what you wantt so I’ll back out of this thread now because I have searched and searched and not found anything that will provide your solution. Best wishes for a happy ending.

Upload the images to your blog via the Add an Image tool of the post editor but don’t insert them in the post, just add the slideshow shortcode.

Or after uploading the images and saving your changes, switch to the “Gallery” tab in the uploader and then click on the “Insert slideshow” button.

I am trying BLACK PIANO and MODULARITY LITE theme. Both have slideshow.
I am on a Page, then upload several images and then post a s slideshow. The slideshows images take up only have the black box they post in. I use images that are 1000 or 950px width. I select Large in the settings. I media, Large is set to 950px.The theme samples all show out to out images.
