Help with SSL Certificate
-
Our site barrsternberg.com is hosted on WordPress and domain registered with GoDaddy. We’d like to have a valid SSL certificate on the site, and according to WordPress documentation, that should be auto-installed. However, when navigating to https://www.barrsternberg.com we get a ‘Not Secure’ warning saying the certificate has not been validated by a third party. Need help making it ‘Secure.’

Hi there,
WordPress.com hosting only provides SSL for sites hosted by WordPress.com servers. It is not possible to offer SSL to sites on other hosts that use WordPress software.
You’ll need to request this from your host instead.
It appears that the SSL certificate on your site expired, and you should renew that ASAP.WordPress.com and WordPress.org are very similar, but two separate things.

Thanks for clarifying – it seems http://www.barrsternberg.com is hosted on WordPress.org, not WordPress.com.
Does WordPress have a recommendation (or instructions) for adding an SSL certificate to a site hosted on wordpress.org?

That’s correct, you’re right.

The WordPress.org support forum is the best place to post questions about this: https://wordpress.org/support/forums
It would also be a good idea to contact your hosting provider in this situation.Hope this helps! :)

The site uses the wordpress software but is hosted at GoDaddy. There are plugins available for ssl but perhaps GoDaddy should be your first port of call.
