Help with templates or redirection to another resource.

This is my first time getting WordPress support, so I apologize for any faux pas.

I’m new to WordPress, and I mainly use it to publish individual pages of media reviews.

Please visit this page for an example.

I want all of my pages to follow this general structure. A title header, an image, data, and preceding text.

To do this, I’ve kept a Word document with blank data fields that I simply copy and paste to every new page. This is inefficient, and I’ve tried to find solutions but none seem to work how I want.

I thought what I was looking for would be a template, so I created a new one. I created that template to look like my desired page, with dummy text and empty blocks where I’d want content unique to each page to replace.

So I tried loading that template for a new page. First, the page didn’t even display my template, as if I had clicked nothing. I found a way to view the template and this fixed that issue, but I don’t understand why that wasn’t selected by default? Why would I not want to see the template that I had loaded?

Second, when I attempted to replace the dummy text, I was told that my new text would be what displays on every single page with that template. This isn’t what I want. Each “title” field for instance has to be different, like a different video game title.

So I’m at a loss. The functionality I’m looking for doesn’t seem to be achievable through templates like I thought. If I’m wrong, please show me how it can be done. If I’m looking in the wrong place, please show me what feature I would need to use. I’m tired of having to keep my desired “templates” in a separate Word document.

Sorry for the long post. Thank you.

    Hi Joshua,

Thank you for the comment and the link. I’ve read through the support article, but I’m still unclear on how to accomplish what I want.

I believe what I’m looking looking for is to be able to have a template with a partially completed content block.

I would like to be able to open a template when creating a new page that has the following text:

    AKA:
    Platform:

    Developer:
    Genre:
    Original release:

    Published:
    Source: WordPress

Then I would like to be able to open this template each time I make a new page so that I can fill each data field, but without affecting all other pages with the same template. For example, I don’t want changing my entry for “genre” to “action” to replace every previous page where I entered the genre as “adventure.” Does this make sense? I apologize if this is still confusing.
