Help with the Opt-in plugin
-
Hello, and thank you for reading my thread.
I heard about this excellent plugin for collecting emails on your wordpress blog, and so I downloaded the Opt-in plugin from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-opt-in/installation/
But I have no idea where to “upload the wp-opt-in folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder”
What is all that??
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no FTP access to our free hosted WorPress.com blogs and we bloggers can’t install plugins for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ Also note that there is no upgrade you can purchase that allows FTP access and the ability to install plugins. Only those with WordPress.org installs can use plugins http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.com does have blog subscriptions. You can set up email subscriptions by using this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
If you would like a follow button to appear on the bottom right hand corner of your site for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts see here >
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/09/21/more-traffic-for-your-blog-with-the-follow-button/You can set up a customized contact form http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ on a static page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ or in a text widget http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/ and above that form you can clearly state that you are asking for those who wish to have their email address “captured” to use it.

Thank you very much for your answers timethief. I hadn’t realized the whole com vs org situation. And thank you for extra tips of email subscription.
