Help with the Pique theme

Hey there, I am having a hard time with the Pique theme, every time I zoom out or it is on a bigger monitor, the website has two white bars on either side of the side of it. It is really frustrating, especially after reading this article: https://wordpress.com/discover-wordpress/2018/05/31/homepages-with-panels/ and then seeing the website of Jia Tolentino, which works fine on bigger monitors and when it zooms out. I can edit the CSS of my website, so if you have any CSS that would help this, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

  • Hi there – The example you shared does still use the pique theme, but it appears they have since added Custom CSS to expand the width.

Though not the best news, the upside is the CSS exists to expand the theme to full width if you decided to upgrade to Premium for this site.

That said, it may very well be possible recreate this theme using the Blank Canvas theme with Cover blocks set to full-width (using images, color, and text overlaid). Here’s more about the Cover block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/cover-block/

You can create as many free sites on your account as you would like, if you have time and would like to try, create a new test site with the above arrangement and see if you can create something that’s a lot like pique. If you get stuck, let us know and we’ll try to help. :)
