help with thumbnails on pages/categories

  I’ve managed to make my blog appear a bit more like a website – the homepage is static and each new post is assigned a category. Categories are then linked to from the home page. There are 4 categories – 3 of which contain image/photo posts, the other one is for short written posts/poems. So far when you click on a category a page comes up with thumbnail images linking to the relevant posts, but a couple of times this hasn’t happened, and not at all for the text only posts. Can anybody help? Much appreciated.
