Help with transferring my blog – stuck in a triangle!
-
Hi, I’ve gotten into such a mess and I’m hoping you’ll be able to support me in getting out of it. I initially tried to migrate my blogger blog to WordPress a few weeks ago – it was successful, including migrating the custom domain (hosted on godaddy), however I didn’t realise there’s a difference between WordPress.com and .org. I believed I was going to be able to set up my blog with a self hosting site but keep my SEO and analytics. Come to find out that now I’ve created a bluehost account and membership, although I’ve been able to upload my old posts, I can’t redirect them from the URL because its automatically directing to the WordPress.com site – have I lost my SEO and rankings forever? Or is there a fix for this?
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there!
I’ll be happy to assist you. I wasn’t sure about this from your message, so I’m asking for clarification: Do you eventually wish to transfer your site to WordPress.com? Or do you plan to keep it hosted with Bluehost? I noticed you canceled your WordPress.com Premium plan, and the domain is currently pointing to a Bluehost-hosted site. Are you continuing to keep the site there? Or do you want to transfer everything to us?
The distinction is important because we can only help with WordPress.com sites on this forum. For help with WordPress.org sites, you will either need to ask your host (in this case, Bluehost) or post on the WordPress.org support forum.
There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. You can check out this page to learn more about the differences: WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
