Help with "Twenty Fourteen" theme – Can you center the whole page without CSS?

    Hi,

    I just switched my blog to this theme, love its aesthetics. However, the theme seems to be left aligned by default, and I can’t seem to find an option to center it.

    Since CSS is locked behind money, I’d hope that maybe some of you know about a way to center the website without having to pay money :(

    Honestly it would be hard to center the entire page even with CSS, and the end result may look a bit strange. Plus, left-alignment in an LTR language like ours makes for easier readability.

    If you only need to center individual pages and posts, though, you can do that within the editor. I hope that helps a bit!

    What do you mean? Or do you just mean the alignment within the center part of the page where text appears? yeah, that’s not exactly the issue.

    Bummer that the theme is left aligned, I wonder why. No websites do that.

    Hi there,

    It’s been a few years since it was released, but if I recall correctly the off-center design of the theme was meant to be a point of difference between it and the other default themes (which typically use a more centered layout) so for that year specifically the theme was intentionally designed as left-aligned to be different.

    As @supernovia mentions it’s not really practical to change the layout of the Twenty Fourteen theme so drastically. Even with the ability to tweak CSS it would require the help of a developer to pull it off, since the current layout is pretty much “baked in” to the source code.

    In this case I would suggest a different theme if the alignment of this theme is not to your taste.
