Help with Twitter Timeline Widget
-
I cannot seem to figure out how to use the new Twitter Timeline widget! I made my code, pasted it in the Widget ID in Word Press and as far as I can tell, got nothing. Here’s my code: [twitter-timeline id=409039747722391552 deanhenderson=1lefthook] any help appreciated…

Does consulting this guide help?

If you have been using it then which step do you get stuck on please? -
That’s what I’ve been working off of, but I thought the code was supposed to go into the actual widget where it says ID (?) and I just realized I’m supposed to POST it?
-
Ok, I posted it, but it’s a post, not a widget on the sidebar. I don’t think I like this widget much.

Sorry you don’t like it. However, you can disable it easily here > Appearance > Widgets.

I’m still using the old one and it still works for now at least. Just don’t take it out of the sidebar until it stops working. If they say they discontinue something, it often keeps on working for quite a while after that.

Don’t use the twitter timeline shortcode if you want to post it in your sidebar. Use the widget instead.
Here are my step-by-step instructions:
Step 1: First create your timeline widget on twitter under Settings>Widgets. Make sure to save it.
Step 2: After creating the widget on twitter, copy the long string of numbers from your browser’s address bar. That’s your widget ID.
Step 3: In your WordPress.com widget dashboard, drag and drop the Twitter Timeline Widget to the sidebar where you want it to appear. Open the widget.
Step 4: On the Widget ID line, paste the long string of numbers you copied. All the other settings are frosting. Save your widget.
Step 5: Wait for twitter to catch up. It’s not instantaneous the first time.

Thank you so very much, Jennifer! That worked perfectly! The Widget ID for the widget on the sidebar is totally different from that for the widget ID for posts – that’s the bit I just couldn’t figure out! Awesome!

Raincoaster, I also appreciate your input and you’re right – if you don’t want to change it now, don’t until they make you. Once I deleted the old widget, it wouldn’t work again, so I was forced to use the new one.
