help with upgrade info
-
Hi… can any one help? Please…
I have noticed that when I leave comments on other blogs it is really easy just to add my little comment and off I go. However, with my blog with wordpress my readers have to leave all sorts of information like email address and so on… Is there any way I can remove this so to make it easy for readers to leave messages/comments. I think this is putting my readers off from leaving me comments… I wouldn’t leave a comment if I had to fill in lots of stuff… Is this part of the wordpress blog system… can I remove… upgrade to make it easy???
Can any one advise me???
Thanks… JayThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Jay, You have to go to your Dashboard and under Settings click on Discussion. There you will see Other Comment settings.
Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
Users must be registered and logged in to comment
If the above two options are ticked, you can un-tick them. I used to have them un-ticked but then I got loads of spam. I then ticked them both and lo and behold my spam virtually disappeared. :)

Hi… thanks for the tip… I have done what you suggested. I got a friend to try it out, yes she didn’t have to enter her email, however it is still showing on the comment page for viewers so may still put readers off making a comment, if they don’t click past it… can you get rid of this bit do you happened to know?
Thanks again for your advice.

This page > Settings > Discussion is where you set up defaults for comments.

Other comment settings
_Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
_Users must be registered and logged in to commentNote that the prompt to submit and email address and a website URL will still appear, but providing an email address and logging in are not required, and you cannot change this so the prompt does not appear.
You can post instructions for your visitors in a text widget if you wish to set up anonymous commenting. That’s easy to do. You copy and paste this into a text widget:
Readers: Note that the email address and logging in prompts do appear for comments on this blog, but providing an email address and logging in are not required.
The vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all so-called comments submitted to .wordpress.com blogs every day are spam. Spam comes in waves. There are human beings who get paid to post spam. There are robotic programs that post spam.
Do be sure to set up full comment moderation ie. “An administrator must always approve the comment” because anonymous commenting is bound to increase the amount of spam your blog will receive.
