help with URL

I already changed it to public. Just search for Martie Nees Record.
Ok, I think I found it! I can see the Goodreads link there which was posted 11 hours ago but nothing shared from WordPress.com. Did you delete the WordPress.com post on Facebook?
-
One is from Goodreads. The other is from Twitter which I didn’t add to my Twitter account maybe I have goodreads and Twitter connected. And one is from WordPress. As I said I shared WP to my FB, Twitter and Tumbler accounts. Sigh. I’ll never figure this out. At 60 I might be too old = Zero techie skills

Hi Martie!
You’re doing great and we’ll get to the bottom of this. It’s possible I’m not seeing the same thing as you on Facebook. Facebook sometimes hides content.
WordPress.com will definitely only share posts once to Facebook. If you can see two posts there for the same article then it might be some other service sharing it as well.
Another option is to disconnect Facebook from WordPress.com altogether and then share posts manually so you’ve got more control. You can do this here:

hello to the lovely rachelsquirrel…i’ve asked this to the forum before but haven’t yet heard back so i’m asking you cause i know u will…my question is: my little orange bell is usually lit, when i click to see the notifications it doesn’t open…just get that annoying constant circle circling (lol) how do i fix this? Martie
-
Hey there!
Just to confirm: you’re on this page – https://wordpress.com – and clicking the bell in the top right corner and it never opens to show your notifications? That’s annoying! I’ve checked your account and everything looks fine at this end so I think it’s probably a browser issue. Did it used to work?
As a first step try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Also make sure third-party cookies are enabled in your web browser:
Also check that JavaScript is enabled. Let me know how you get on!
-
Hey Rachel – no it never opened/worked…okay, I confess I have no idea what Java Script means…feeling old :-(…I do hope you got a notification when I completed the WP feedback survey…ur the best! – Martie
-
I did get your feedback. Thank you so much! It made my day :)
I have another suggestion re. the notifications menu: check that you’re using the latest version of one of our supported browsers here:
If not, then update your browser. It would also be good to know whether the same problem occurs when you try using a different browser. Do you have any other web browsers on your computer that you can test with?
-
I did update my google chrome using the link you gave me…notification still just circles…no I do not have another web browser…used to also have IE & Firefox but I was always getting viruses so I got rid on them…grr…for the issue not you. :-)
-
Rachel, BTW: I did clear my google chrome of cache & cookies….i couldn’t figure out how to allow third party cookies…little bell still just circles….think i might give up on this…i DO get email notifications when someone leaves a comment…Martie
-
i couldn’t figure out how to allow third party cookies..
Third-party cookies might already be enabled. Can you go to this page and let me know what you see:
If they’re already enabled you’ll see a message which says,
Great, third party cookies are properly enabled in your browser!
-
it reads “Third party cookies appear to be disabled. Please follow the instructions on this page to turn them on.” i read this before but i didn’t see the directions…can u send me another link to do so (sorry i’m really slow with this)…i googled this problem and i read that a lot of people on WP are having this exact issue with the bell opening…u told me all is fine on ur end so if we figure this out maybe we can share the answer with others that are going nuts with the circle that only circles and doesn’t open…btw: is there anything else i can do to give u some recognition for all ur help?
-
Ah, bingo! This will be why the notifications menu is not working. You’re using the Chrome browser, is that right? If yes, go to –
Chrome > Preferences > Show advanced settings … > Content settings
Then make sure the option next to “Block third-party cookies and site data” is *not* selected.
There are more instructions here:

Hi Rachel,
New problem. Ever since I started my blog I’ve been getting dozens of advertisement emails daily.
Is this connected to Word Press? If yes, how can I stop them?Martie
-
Hi Rachel,
Are you still there? I am used to you answering me in a day. If you are still there (and I hope so and maybe just on vacay) pls tell me how to stop the 10- to 20 email adds that I have begun to get since I started with WP?
In trying to get my feature image on FB have anything to do with this? I remember we changed the cookies.I’m nervous because sometimes when I unsubscribe the site looks fishy. I have been hacked into so I do hope it is not happening again.
Hope all is well,
Martie -
Hi there,
Where are the emails coming from? As in the Sent From address? All emails that we send would come from an @wordpress.com address.
We don’t send out advertising emails, and we also don’t sell your email address to advertisers under any circumstances, so I’m very sure those emails have nothing to do with us.
-
They are all ads from different email addresses some look very fishy, It did begin once I started my blog but I’ll take your word for it that you don’t sell email address.
Where is my friend Rachel in Scotland?
Martie -
Rachel is taking a much deserved break for a few days :)
I suggest you mark those emails as spam, and your email provider should start doing that automatically for new emails. Also keep in mind that while we don’t sell your email address to anyone, many online services do, as do phone companies, magazines you subscribe to, and most retailers where you might have an account. The timing of this coinciding with your blog could be nothing more than a coincidence, though I fully understand why you might think it’s related.
