Help with user/page permissions

    Hi All,

I’m setting up a WordPress site to keep my team of student assistants updated on projects here at work. The plan is to have a daily post where students can comment to leave notes on progress, and to use that comment as a sort of attendance marker as to who was here that day or not.

In addition, I would like to set up a separate page for ‘Error Reporting.’ That way, students can leave a post with information about any workstation problems/errors they might encounter during their work.

So my thinking was to have myself (and a few other full-time staff members) set up as Administrators/Editors, and then have the students assigned as Authors. Then I would set up the ‘Main’ blog page to only allow posts from Administrators/Editors (with commenting allowed from Authors), and then have the Error Reporting page allow posts from Authors.

However, I’m having a difficult time figuring out how to configure this (or a functional equivalent) in the WordPress Dashboard. Do I maybe need to install a plug-in?

Thank you in advance for all your help. Please let me know if more information would help.
