Help with using old editor continuously
-
Okay, help me again, please….
My blog post today took forever. First I went to “admin” and clicked post, add new, etc., which brought up the old editor that I wanted to use. After I works a little I saved, but when I went to edit again it was the newer editor WHICH I HATE with a passion.
Please, how do I stay on that old editor without having to save, and go through the ritual listed above. There has to be a way.
It’s also impossible to line up text with photos. Looks great in the editor but looks entirely different when previewed.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The classic Dashboard is here
http://stoutstandards.wordpress.com/wp-admin/Bookmark the above link and use it to manage your blog.
-
I understand that. That’s the link I used, BUT as you write and save, you are taken right back to the new editor, and I am tired of having to sign off wordpress and then log back on to get back to the first editor. Does that make sense?
-
Please, all I want to do is use the old editor. You folks can play games with all the new frills to your hearts content. Just let me use the old editor…..?
-
You add that extension to your blog. Write something, save and then edit. See what pops up.
-
When I publish a new post it redirects me to the new post. From there you can hover you mouse at the top left of the WordPress black bar and select the WP Admin link. This will take you back to the classic Dashboard.

I really have a feeling my question and my peeve is not being understood….let me try once again.
When I save a session, I preview it, and if I want to make changes again, I hit “edit” on the preview screen. UNFORTUNATELY this takes me to the NEW editor. I want it to take me back to the OLD editor
- like it ALWAYS did before.
I do not want to have to go through the clicking “admin”, “posts”, etc., just to get back to my editing.
When I start a new post, I might edit it numerous times before I publish, and it is extremely annoying to have to constantly go back to admin just to find the older editor “again”, not to mention I cannot add borders to photos or use the old photo sizing. If I am able to use the old stats page, why is it not possible for me to use the OLD editor, and yes I start from the admin link.

Perhaps where you’re going wrong is hitting “edit” in the preview screen. If you just close the preview surely you’ll be back where you want to be?
-
-
When you click on “Preview” it opens the post in a new window. Clicking “edit” once you’re there in the preview does indeed take you to the new blue editor. But even just minimising the preview or closing it by clicking an “x” reveals the old editor window in the background once more. I believe your issue with this particular problem is not really WordPress’s fault but just how you are using your computer.
-
How does “minimizing” the preview or closing it bring me back to my editor? Just what “x” are you referring to? When I minimize I am back to my computers desktop. If I close, same thing….
Sorry, I just do not understand this
I am willing to accept all the blame if you can get me to where I want to be (where I’ve been for three years)….
-
i.e., once I am in the preview, and I want to go back to the “old” editor, what “x” will take me there. Minimize as well just takes me back to my desktop. Have experimented with everything on that preview page and nada…

1. You’re writing a post in the old style editor. You click to save your work. You don’t close the old editor.
2. You click “Preview” in the old editor to see how things look. This opens the post in a another different window. If you watch at the top of your screen you’ll see there is now another tab showing.
3. If you close that tab by clicking the “x” by the tab (not the “x” at the very top of the screen) you’ll find that the old style editor is still there just where you left it and you can make further modifications to your post.
-
Ah, okay, okay, okay….you are correct. I never thought to try that…my bad and my apologies. All I could think of was the x to close the screen down.
Thank you, magicrobot!! Appreciate you very much.

Glad it’s all sorted. If you’ve bookmarked the old editor and the old stats page you’ll never have to bother with the “new” editor……at least until Matt decides to completely phase out the “old” editor which I’m sure is bound to happen at some point…………………….
-
Please don’t tell me that. I have been blogging for almost 4 years, and I have honestly tried to work with the various changes, but just find them confusing, and not always better. I could list a few other things I don’t like about this editor, but as long as I can use the old one I will not go there.
Incidentally I am 74 years old and that might have something to do with it…..

Anyone interested in getting to the old editor from a published post (or page) in just 2 clicks ?
No scrolling or searching though WP-admin post/page lists, no plug-ins, no workarounds, no bookmarks and no tricks. Works for all blogs and browsers.
Just 2 clicks. That’s just one more click than it takes to get to the new editor….
