Help with VPS and domain hosting

  I am extremely confused, I have just taken over this website from the previous business partners and I am trying to catch myself up to speed. There is apparently a VPS hosting service that is being used to host this domain, I want to change this and make it so that this domain is hosted by wordpress. I want ideally for http://www.oleoscuba.com to point to wordpress and store.oleoscuba.com to point to Shopify and I have no idea how to do this because when I try to head to the DNS settings I am using custom name records that point to a hosting done by host papa. I have recently gained accessed to the host but I have no idea what a VPS even is, I want to make this process simpler by making wordpress host my domain, is this a possibility?
