Help with WordPress plan, courses, & comments

Hi, if anyone can help with my questions it would be appreciated thanks.
1. I pay once per year for .com but address of my blog is still ‘…wordpress.com’ is that because despite paying for domain name I use the free plan?
2. As I’m not very techi (eg, no idea what a plug in is), I’d like to learn more & wondered if WordPress ran courses/webinars?
3. I often try to comment & connect with other bloggers at the end of their post & often my comments don’t show, is this due to the settings my end or the other bloggers?
3. I was wondering about the starter plan, (£36 per year) & if this would allow me to post a sound file or video? Also I wondered what the 8% commission fee was, is it a charge WordPress make if I sell anything? I wouldn’t be selling anything but wondered about earning through WordPress in the future at some point? Any tips, advise from your experiences is appreciated, thank you.

- https://thebackgardennaturalist.com works but typing it into a browser takes you to https://thebackgardennaturalist.wordpress.com/ unless you upgrade from a free plan. If you had purchased an annual Starter plan you could have registered that custom domain free for the first year.
2. Look at the bottom of this page. There are many WordPress.com resources to help you learn.
3. If comments display immediately or are “moderated” depends on the whims and settings of the owners of the sites you visit.
4. The starter plan is very basic. You’d need a higher plan to store video files. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
