Hemingway Theme Mysterious Font Glitch / Bug
-
Hi everyone,
I’m using the Hemingway Rewritten theme with a premium account. I’m using the CSS editor to customize.
Whenever I refresh the page or select a menu option, the text glitches into a different font for a second.
I haven’t changed the font so I don’t know what it’s glitching to. The only changes I’ve made is reducing the px size of the header image.
Any insights? Thanks!

Hi there, with custom web fonts, your browser has to request and download the fonts from the web font server and load them. Depending on server load, internet condition and connection speed, sometimes there can be a delay. What we have done, to keep visitors from seeing a blank screen if there is a delay on the font being loaded for whatever reason, is to allow the site to load and then the fonts are substituted by the browser once it has them. This is to keep visitors from clicking away thinking there may be an issue with the site due to that font loading delay.
Since the font download process can be affected by a number of things, sometimes you will see that font change, and sometimes you may not, and at times the delay may be longer than others.
You can try adding the following custom CSS, which will keep your site from loading anything until after the fonts are downloaded and ready in your browser, but keep in mind that if the internet is congested, or the font servers are experiencing a heavy load, your visitors may not see anything of your site for several seconds.
.wf-loading body { visibility: hidden; }
