Hero image (header image) for only home page

    Hi,

    I’m having trouble figuring out how to make my header/hero image appear only on my homepage and not on any other pages.

    My current theme is Nook.

    Hi @hildah2trust,

    For the Nook theme on WordPress.com, here are a few ways to show the header image only on the homepage:

    Option 1: Theme Customizer Go to Appearance → Customize → check if Nook has specific settings for header image display per page. Some themes have built-in options for this.

    Option 2: Use Blocks (Free plan) If your header is in a block-based area, you can:

    1. Go to Appearance → Editor (or Site Editor)
    2. Edit your header template
    3. Add conditional visibility if available in your theme

    Option 3: Custom CSS (Premium plan and above) If you have a Premium or higher plan with Custom CSS access, you can hide the header on non-homepage pages.

    body:not(.home) .site-header-image {
    display: none;
    }

    Note: Without a Premium plan or higher, your customization options are limited on WordPress.com. The Nook theme may not have built-in options to show header images on homepage only.

    You might want to check the theme documentation or consider upgrading if you need more customization control.

    I appreciate you sharing this information with us!

    Currently, your theme is using the Pages template to add this Header to your homepage and other pages. 

    To remove this from displaying on the other pages, you would have to change the template that these pages use. To do this, you can follow the steps in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/templates/apply-a-template/. 

    You’re also welcome to create a new header for this new template, so a different header can display on your other pages instead. We have more information on this in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/site-editor/customize-your-header/custom-header-footer/.

    I checked your site and it looks like you’ve already managed to resolve the issue by changing the templates. Just wanted to double-check if you still need any help with this?

    If you also don’t want to have this image on your post, you can edit your Single Posts template by following this guide:
