Hero Theme – Issues with Promotional Callouts Setup for Front Page

Hey, starting to setup a blog, and I’m having issues creating the front page of Hero as per the directions. The directions for setting up a front page are below.
Promotional Callouts: Under Home Promos in the Customizer, choose a tag name from the dropdowns for the promo areas. Tag posts with these tags to have them show up in the three callout areas.
My problem is that under the Home Promos option in the Customizer, I don’t see any dropdowns for the promo areas. I see options for Tagline Text, a dropdown for tagline link, and that’s it.
Any help is appreciated!

On a test site, I found three additional items under Home Promos which you didn’t find. They are labeled Promo One, Promo Two, and Promo Three. Each has drop-down menu that displays posts tags. But, here’s why I see them and you don’t. I had already created post tags on this site over a year ago. To make them display you merely have to add some tags. In the wp-admin pages, this can be done at your Tags page: https://nstraining.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=post_tag. Post tags may also be added directly to posts, either when you create them or later.
I’m sure you could also add post tags somewhere in My Sites, but I haven’t figured out where or how.
The fact that those drop-down menus will not appear if no post tags have been added by you might be considered a glitch. I’m going to tag the topic for staff attention for this reason. The Hero theme guide evidently doesn’t explain that post tags must be created for those features to appear.

I suspect that this is a design choice from the theme’s author to only display an option if it can actually be used. I’ll get this reported, though, as I can understand how it may lead to confusion. I’ll let you know what I hear back.

Thanks. You’re right, it may be an intentional design choice rather than a glitch, but if that’s the case then at least the theme guide should point out that this feature will not appear, or be available, in Customize until post tags are added.

@musicdoc1: I agree. :) I’ve suggested some changes to the theme’s documentation and a message to be added to the Customizer when no tag exists. I’ll let you know if the team implement those changes.
