Hevor Theme Header/Cover Image
-
Hello, I’m creating a page with the Hevor theme. I like how the front page template has the cover image full width, all the way to the edges of the page. When I add the same content block (cover image) to the page and make adjustments to all the settings, tried additional CSS coding for the block, saved as pattern, etc. nothing changes the settings to allow the other pages cover images to go to the full edge. There is also a much larger white space at the top of the page.
I’ve done some searching and saw some articles online and here about this but I didn’t find any solutions. I’m assuming it may have to do with the title block on other pages? Below are screenshots for reference of the difference.
Is there a fix or workaround for that I’m missing? Thanks!

Hi there,
The way your theme is set up, the Homepage of your site uses a different template (Front Page) from the other pages of your site, which use a more generic/adaptable Pages template. See: jeffjewellconsulting.com | Templates
It’s not possible to add a Cover Image block to your page content (when you edit the page along with your text) as there are margins and other logic built into that template that does not allow the Cover Block to expand full width.
Instead you can create a custom page template at the page link I shared above, by clicking on the + icon. You can see how that is done in the video here: https://wordpress.com/support/templates/#create-template-from-site-editor
You can then assign the template to your new page (note the page must be published first) and then you can add the Cover Image Pattern to the template directly. This is the pattern the Front Page template uses, and it does extend full width.
Please note when you add the Cover Image Pattern, you will need to detach it (which creates a unique copy instead of remaining connected to the Front Page instance of the image) and this will allow you to add a new image on this template, without changing the image on the homepage template unintentionally. See: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/create-a-pattern/#in-one-place-only
I’ve recorded a video here to show you how to add the Cover Image Pattern to the new template (once you click the “+” icon and assign a page to the template in the previous page) which you can view here: Video showing how to add Cover Image to new template
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
