Hi, a bit confused

I do have a domain I registrered on Godaddy.com, but before that I’ve been working on a site on the wordpress.com domain.

First, is wordpress a paid service either way? There’s no free options?
If not what is the best way to connect my wordpress blog to my domain on Godaddy?

    Hello svankmajor,

There is still a free option for WordPress.com, but not if you want to use a registered domain.

To use the domain you registered on GoDaddy, you must purchase a WordPress.com Personal plan (or higher). The initial purchase includes a credit for a registered domain or for mapping a domain. After the first year, there is an annual cost for domain renewal or domain mapping. This is in addition to the cost for the plan renewal.

This table provides a feature and cost comparison for all the WordPress.com plans:

  • Hi @svankmajor, and thank you for your help here, @drizzleblocks.

Just clarifying one more thing too, there is such thing as free WordPress.org software. This is separate from our managed hosting service.

If you have a hosting provider you can install and maintain your own copy of WordPress, however we wouldn’t be able to provide support services for you.

    Hoping that helps!

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
