Hi, having a problem with hero slider. not seeing categories
-
Hi, I’m using the Soundcheck theme. Having two problems. Not seeing categories when I go to hero slider tab. it says select category but there are no categories underneath. Also trying to get a menu bar up under the hero slider and home page. Having a very difficult time navigating it. I’ve looked up forums and but didn’t see my specific questions.
Many thanks for your help with this!
Leigh

Hey Leigh!
Here is the setup for the Hero slider:
https://wordpress.com/themes/soundcheck/support/The top set of directions should walk you through the process! If you get stuck on any of those steps, let me know where you’re getting caught. I can help further.
Also trying to get a menu bar up under the hero slider and home page.
Here is the link to your custom menu design page:
https://unewsdigital.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.phpAdd the links you want in your menu, and then click to Save your menu.
For more instruction about custom menus:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/Also, since you did purchase a premium theme, you do have direct access to the theme’s developers, if you ever want to go “straight to the horse’s mouth” for assistance. Here is a link the the Soundcheck support page:
https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/soundcheck
I hope all of this information helps. Just drop me a line if anything gets sticky, and I’m happy to assist!
All the best to you :)

Thank you so much! Got the slider going. Now trying to figure out if I can put a line of text over slider pictures without it covering the faces in the pictures. Can that text bar be moved?
Thank you!

Hey there!
It appears as if it is your site’s title that is superimposing over your images.
First, to change the way your title appears, you can do so here:
https://wordpress.com/settings/general/unewsdigital.wordpress.com
Next, the placement can be adjusted slightly. It has to be placed someplace within the boundaries of the header image, however. Since you have the Premium upgrade, you can adjust your theme’s CSS to change the placement.
If you’d like to give this a try, go to your customizer by clicking the link below:
https://unewsdigital.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Foptions-general.phpThen, click CSS in your menu. In the CSS Revisions box, please paste the following underneath all existing text:
.site-info {
position: absolute;
top: 320px;
left: 100px;
}Then Save your changes. That should do the trick!
For more detailed instruction on how you can make CSS adjustments on your own, take a look at these two links:

Thanks for all of your help. My latest challenge is trying to add a caption to the slider pix in the sound check theme. I put a caption into the caption area but it does not show up. I also tried to put it in the text area of the post but it covers people’s faces. Is there anyway to put it to the side in the black blank space of the slider? Or somewhere on the pic towards the bottom or top?
I appreciate it!

Hey Leigh!
Without the custom design upgrade, there isn’t a way to move that text. It is designed to be an overlay, as seen here in the slider:
https://soundcheckdemo.wordpress.com/If you’re interested in the custom design package:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/The main issue is that moving that text would be changing the theme’s design elements, so it’s just not doable without access to the CSS code.
If you have more questions about this, let me know!
