Hi, I need help with my domain name

    HI I meant to purchase the domain amyalpert.com for $18. Some how I got the name below: amyalpertdotcom.wordpress.com. Yikes!! That is not what I wanted at all

    All that changes when you are domain mapping is the URLs and nothing else. The content stays exactly where it is. What domain mapping does its create a seamless transfer between the underlying .wordpress.com blog URLs to the domain URLs no matter where they are on the internet. Visitors who click the underlying .wordpress.com blog URLs will be seamlessly redirected to the exact same content under the domain URLs.

    If you failed to register a .wordpress.com URL first, or if you attempted to purchase a domain URL that is already registered, then the software provides the “dotcom.wordpress.com” blog address for you.

    In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.

    As timethief mentioned, your address amyalpertdotcom.wordpress.com is an underlying address — that’s used behind the scenes to make sure your content is safe even if you stop using your custom domain amyalpert.com.

    I checked and your custom domain was successfully registered and is being used on your site here: http://amyalpert.com/

    You can manage that domain from the My Domains page. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
